High above Akaroa at Purple Peak Retreat, 15 minutes from Akaroa township, Kate Tapley Horse Treks operates its highest venue with views over Banks Peninsula, Akaroa Harbour and the East Coast.
Akaroa Horse Riding is operated by Kate Tapley, a leading practitioner of Natural Horsemanship and Horse Trekking. We teach and apply the principles of natural horsemanship using the horse's own language.
Our qualified guides offer riding all through the day including twilight. We have a range of trails with superb 360 degree views. Each trek may have up to eight riders participating. Rides have a minimum ratio of one guide to four riders.
Riding Sessions include registration, gearing up, a short video, partnering up session with your horse and trekking. The sessions are two or three hours to all day.
Riders cannot exceed 120kg.
