The newly converted, Arthouse Hostel, Launceston’s newest backpacker’s hostel opened on the 2nd November 2007. It has undergone a fit out of brand new beds with inner-spring mattresses, new plates, bowls and cutlery in the commercially licensed kitchen, and fire sprinklers and smoke/thermal detectors linked directly to the fire brigade.
Catering for backpackers, hikers, student, youth hostel travellers, holiday makers and more - your stay at the Arthouse Hostel will be clean, comfortable and most crucially, safe. Every guest will be treated like a real VIP.
The commercially licensed kitchen opens into a big, well lit and airy dining room and calm and comfortable lounge, whilst the entrance opens into another dedicated lounge area with space to open your maps, plan your tours, pack your packs and watch some TV on the huge plasma TV.
The entire Arthouse Hostel has been recently renovated with beautiful paintwork and the original baltic pine floorboards have been polished to a mirror finish. The building is registered as a Heritage Building with the Heritage Council of Tasmania. It is located in the heart of the art and culture area of Launceston, with the Art Campus just down the road next to the Art Gallery and Museum and Inveresk Rail Museum.
